His growing influence, coupled with a shift to the right in Israeli politics, has been seen as emboldening extremist settlers in the West Bank.

Footage circulating in Israeli media depicts dozens of young, religious men, often associated with the "hilltop youth" – an extremist movement known for occupying West Bank hilltops and attacking Palestinians – gathering around the military base. Defense Minister Israel Katz has vowed to "eradicate this violence from the root," appealing to the extremist settlers to remember the sacrifices made by the security forces, many of whom are exhausted reservists serving repeated tours of duty.
