He played Saxon Ratliff, a character that evoked both sympathy and dislike, a testament to his acting range.

"Mike White said that it comes with baggage, the idea that when you have successful parents like I do with you and Mom, there’s an added level of what other people think," Patrick explained. "There were times earlier in my career where I was wondering, does it make sense to go under an alias? It took a while for me to get to a point where I was less worried about living in your shadow versus wanting to do it the way I thought I should do it."

"I’m glad you kept the name, because now I can take credit," Arnold joked. "You joined a very short list of people: You know, Jamie Lee Curtis… If you show you have the substance, you can get rid of the whole idea of nepotism."

"I couldn’t believe [it]. I said to myself, 'I’m watching your show, and I’m watching your butt sticking out there.' And all of a sudden, I see the weenie. What is going on here? This is crazy," Arnold exclaimed. "Then I said to myself, 'Well, Arnold, hello. You did the same thing in ‘Conan’ and ‘Terminator,’ so don’t complain about it.'"

Patrick then drew a parallel of working with great directors like James Cameron, whom Arnold worked with on the "Terminator" franchise, with that of Mike White on "The White Lotus."

"Oh, yeah. I guess the similarity from “Terminator” to “White Lotus” was that you were working on a project with James Cameron, who is one of the greatest directors of all time. For me, it was a blessing to work with the writer, the director, the creator of “White Lotus” — because Mike does everything. Same with James Cameron, right?" said Patrick.

Key differences in their acting approaches were also highlighted:

• Arnold emphasized rigorous preparation and repetition, drawing from his bodybuilding background. "I studied the script for a month, and I have someone that reads the parts with me, and we rehearse and we do reps. It’s from bodybuilding — reps, reps, reps. The more reps you do, the better you get."
• Patrick prefers a more improvisational style, often collaborating with the director to adapt scenes on the spot. "Mike writes it a very specific way, but there’s times we would be mid-scene and he’d just yell out from behind the camera to change it up, or come up with new dialogue."
