JD Vance Says Elon Musk’s Attack Against Trump is a ‘Huge Mistake’
The escalating feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump has captured headlines, and now, JD Vance has weighed in, calling Musk's recent social media barrage against the former president a "huge mistake." Vance's comments, made in an interview released on Friday, come after a very public falling out between the two men, who were once considered allies.
While acknowledging the intensity of Musk's attacks, Vance attempted to downplay them, suggesting that the Tesla and SpaceX CEO is an "emotional guy" who became frustrated. "I hope that eventually Elon comes back into the fold. Maybe that’s not possible now because he’s gone so nuclear," Vance stated.
This public disagreement follows a period of close collaboration between Musk and Trump, leading many Republicans to encourage reconciliation. The friction appears to stem from Trump's portrayal of Musk as "CRAZY" and threats to reconsider government contracts held by his companies.
Musk, in turn, launched a series of criticisms against Trump, targeting his tax cuts, spending bill, and even making unsubstantiated claims about Trump's alleged connection to Jeffrey Epstein. These actions have clearly stirred controversy and prompted responses from various political figures.
Key Highlights of the Feud:
- Musk Criticized: Trump's tax cuts and spending bill, labeling the bill a "disgusting abomination".
- Musk Suggested: Trump should be impeached.
- Musk Claimed: Without evidence, that the government is concealing information about Trump's association with Jeffrey Epstein.
- Trump Responded: Calling Musk "CRAZY" and threatening government contracts.
Vance shared his perspective, stating, "Look, it happens to everybody. I’ve flown off the handle way worse than Elon Musk did in the last 24 hours."
Vance's interview took place with comedian Theo Von, and touched upon several contentious topics. Vance also addressed Musk's claims regarding the Epstein records, firmly stating: "Absolutely not. Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein."
Regarding Musk’s call for Trump to be impeached and replaced with Vance, he responded, "It’s totally insane. The president is doing a good job." He further emphasized Musk’s entrepreneurial skills, praising Musk's efforts to cut government spending.
Vance also defended the controversial bill that Musk has criticized, explaining that its primary aim is to extend the 2017 tax cuts. Although acknowledging it's not perfect, he called it "a good bill." According to the nonpartisan congressional budget office, the bill would slash spending but also leave about 10.9 million more people without health insurance and increase debt by $2.4tn over the decade.
In other parts of the interview, Vance made lighthearted jokes and addressed questions about election night celebrations, maintaining a jovial tone.
The unfolding drama between Musk and Trump, as well as the subsequent commentary from figures like JD Vance, highlights the complex dynamics within the political landscape. While tensions are clearly running high, the hope for reconciliation remains, even as the future of their relationship hangs in the balance. It serves as a potent reminder that even the most influential figures are susceptible to disagreements and public fallouts, further humanizing those who often seem larger than life.
