The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) announced the confirmation of a third measles case associated with Turkish Airlines flight 201, which arrived in Denver on May 13th.

This latest case involves a vaccinated adult residing in Arapahoe County. The CDPHE is actively working to contain the spread of the virus and protect the public. This new case brings the total number of confirmed measles cases connected to the flight to three.

Key Details:

  • Flight: Turkish Airlines flight 201
  • Arrival Date: May 13th
  • Origin: International
  • Confirmed Cases: 3 (as of this update)

Previous Cases:

In addition to the latest confirmed case, the other two individuals infected were:

  • An out-of-state traveler who was infectious during the flight.
  • A child under 5 years old from Arapahoe County whose likely exposure occurred on the same flight.

Contact Tracing and Public Health Response:

Local public health agencies are diligently contacting passengers and crew members who were in close proximity to the infected individuals during the flight, including all lap children. If you were a passenger on Turkish Airlines flight 201 and are experiencing measles symptoms, it is crucial to contact your local public health agency immediately.

Potential Exposure Locations:

The CDPHE has identified several locations where potential exposure to measles may have occurred. Individuals who visited these locations during the specified dates and times should monitor themselves for symptoms for 21 days after exposure, and consider avoiding public gatherings, especially if unvaccinated.

Here's a list of those locations:

  • Casa Vallarta (4002 S. Parker Road, Aurora): May 22, between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
  • Colorado Athletic Club Denver Tech Center (5555 DTC Pkwy, Greenwood Village): May 23, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
